Rainfall Predictions: Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim will face heavy rains

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for SHWB and Sikkim.

Digital Desk: Heavy rains are expected to lash at least four Northeastern states in the coming week.

According to weather forecasts, heavy rain is expected in the Northeast states of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim until August 1.

According to weather.com, the eastward movement of a western disturbance, combined with the nomadic monsoon trough that has currently established itself over the northern plains, is expected to bring heavy rains to Northeast India and the adjoining sub-Himalayan West Bengal (SHWB) and Sikkim over the next five days — from Thursday to next Monday, July 28 to August 1.

During this five-day forecast period, the combination of these meteorological systems will bring widespread light to moderate rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, according to the weather report.

Heavy rain (115.5 mm–204 mm) is expected in SHWB and Sikkim until Saturday (July 30), and in Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh from Saturday to Monday (July 30-August 1).

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for SHWB and Sikkim until Saturday, while Arunachal, Assam, and Meghalaya will be on the same alert from Saturday to Monday.
