Guwahati : The list is endless and so is the lamentation and shock expressed after many found their names missing from the final NRC list published here yesterday. A retired Indian Air Force (IAF) Jawan, Sabindra Sharma’s name did not figure in the final list of the National Register of Citizens.
A resident of Biswanath district, Sharma had joined the Air Force (IAF) in January 1st, 1980. After serving as a flight commandant at the Indian airspace for 36 years, Mr. Sharma retired from his service in January 20, 2019.

“I was shocked that my name did not figure in the final list of the NRC as names of all the family members were included in the list. After receiving notices i appeared for 3 hearings and the officials were satisfied with the documents. I do not know what went wrong, ” said Sharma.

Sharma who was deployed as the Second Lieutenant Commander at the Tezpur airbase was conferred with the Rashtrapati Award by President Ram Nath Kovind in 2017. His father Tez Prasad Sharma was a freedom fighter.
During his service period he was deployed in different parts of the country– Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and so on.
