Rural bars to be converted into wine shops within 45 days: Assam Govt
Additionally, Jayanta said that the Assam Motor Vehicle Rules, 2003 have been modified to give designated officers the authority to auction off vehicles for a variety of offenses.

Digital Desk: State minister for Skill Development, Employment & Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Jayanta Malla Baruah on Monday said that the Assam government has decided to convert rural bars into wine shops.

The decision was taken on Monday during a cabinet meeting chaired by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam. "We have observed that bars in rural areas are degrading the values as these liquor stores sell and allow customers to sit and drink alcohol." Therefore, the corresponding District Commissioners (DCs) would transform these rural bars into wine shops within 45 days, Jayanta stated at a press conference after the cabinet meeting.

The Minister also mentioned that a survey was being conducted to determine which areas of Assam did not have any wine shops, and that, following the survey, a wine shop license would be issued for those regions. Additionally, Jayanta said that the Assam Motor Vehicle Rules, 2003 have been modified to give designated officers the authority to auction off vehicles for a variety of offenses. Himanata Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, shared a number of more significant decisions that were made during the cabinet meeting on the micro-blogging website.

One of these choices was made in the cabinet meeting about the family pension for unmarried daughters. The Assam (Services) Pension Rules, 1969 will be amended in accordance with the decision to reduce the hardship faced by the unmarried dependent daughter of a pensioner in obtaining a family pension and to ensure that the unmarried daughter distributes her share to all other eligible siblings, such as the minor son, disabled child, and another unmarried dependent child.

An additional provision will provide that, in the case of a complaint that the unmarried daughter did not distribute the pension among all eligible recipients, the Govt can apportion it equally among the eligible persons.
