Guwahati : The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) has introduced Commerce as an elective subject in its syllabus. Class IX students will now be able to take Commerce as an elective subject from 2020 onwards.
Launching the new programme ‘An introduction to Commerce’, Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya said that the subject will be introduced in Class X also from 2021. He said that a glimpse of Accountancy, Insurance and Banking has been given in the textbook of Commerce.
A meeting was held to discuss about the introduction of the subject as an elective at the Gauhati Commerce College presided over by state education minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya, officials of SEBA and teachers.
The government teachers will be also provided with five day training on the entire syllabus module of the new elective subject.
