Guwahati/New Delhi : Two Indian Forest Service Officers have been arrested by CBI in a bribery case where one officer identified as D Gogoi hails from Assam.
The two senior Indian Forest Service Officers Tarun Johri and D Gogoi , both chief conservators of forest, posted in Arunachal Pradesh and Port Blair respectively, were arrested in a case of Rs 20,000 to the environment ministry official for getting a departmental work done.
As per reports, Johri gave Rs 10,000 to the official on behalf of D Gogoi to a ministry official who complained to his superior about the bribe. A case was registered and during the verification process by the CBI, Gogoi paid another Rs 10,000 to the official. Johri was arrested March 16th, 2019, while D Gogoi was nabbed on March 17th, 2019.
The CBI on March 16th, 2019 reportedly raided the residence of Gogoi in Guwahati and seized various documents related to the case.
“We have received a complaint from the MoEF official after the officer received the bribe. The CBI teams arrested Johri from Delhi while Gogoi was arrested from Port Blair. Searches were conducted at the Delhi residence of Johri . Another team conducted searches at Gogoi’s residences in Guwahati and Port Blair. We have registered a case. The investigation is on,” a CBI spokesperson said, as quoted in Hindustan Times.
Gogoi will be brought to Delhi on a two day transit remand on March 18th, 2019.
