Guwahati : In yet another major setback to already degrading Congress party, two Congress leaders from Assam Santiuse Kujur and Gautam Roy have resigned from the party.
Former Rajya Sabha member Santiuse Kujur tendered his resignation from the party today citing ‘personal decision’ as the reason behind his resignation. Meanwhile Gautam Roy, former minister and veteran leader from Barak Valley, resigned from the party and is likely to join BJP on August 11th, 2019.
It is to be mentioned that Gautam Roy and congress general secretary from Assam Ramen Borthakur were earlier suspended for anti-party activities. According to the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee Roy was distributing sweets after the BJP candidate won from Karimganj Lok Sabha Seat.
Santiuse Kujur mentioned in his resignation letter his ‘decision’ to resign as purely personal and after serving the party for 13 long years, is pleased to have been a part of the leading political party of the nation.
