Guwahati : The quantum of punishment on the Shweta Agarwal murder case has been postponed. A local fast track court postponed the date from August 1st, 2019 to August 3rd, 2019 now.
Shweta Agarwal was a meritorious student who was murdered by her boyfriend Govind Singhal on December 4th, 2017 after a fight broke out between the two.
Along with the conviction of Govind Singhal, Govind’s mother Kamla Devi and sister Bhawani Singhal has been convicted under Sections 302 and 201 of the IPC

Shweta was a meritorious student and a state topper in her 12th grade in the commerce stream in 2015. At the time of the murder, she was a student of 5th semester B Com student in KC Das Commerce College here. Her murder had triggered a huge public outcry across the state.
Shweta’s charred body was found in the bathroom of the rented house of the Singhals. On that fateful day, she visited Govind at his rented accommodation at Shantipur locality in Bharalumukh area of the city. They picked up a quarrel on the issue of their relationship. Shweta wanted Govind to marry her but he “avoided the topic”.
