Guwahati: On Saturday, Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, launched the third edition of the “Khelo India Youth Games”. It is scheduled to be held from January 10 to 22 in different venues in Guwahati. Over 10,000 participants from across the country will be participating in the 451 medal events during the 13 action-packed days.
The third edition will have two additional sports- Cycling and Lawn Bowls. The composite logo, players jersey, mascots and theme song of the 3rd edition of the Games was launched at the Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonawal was also present in the event.

A host of dignitaries from the world of sport attended the ceremony. Top athletes Hima Das, Swapna Burman and Lovlina Borgohain also joined the ceremony.

Addressing the crowd, Rijiju said “The Khelo India Youth Games is one of the most empowering initiatives of the Indian Government that hopes to not only give a platform to youngsters from all over the country to make a future in sport, but also to build India into a sporting nation”.
