Tinsukia : Accused in the infamous 2017 Silapathar incident, Subhash Biswas has been arrested by Kolkata STF from Silapathar.
Subhash Biswas was arrested from his hometown Manikpur in Silapathar by a special team of Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata police.

The Kolkata STF has charged Subhash Biswas under the charges of Arms Act and fake currency trading. He was arrested following the arrest of a Bangladeshi national in Kolkata.
It may be mentioned that on March 6, 2017, a mob allegedly led by Subodh and Subhash, attacked and vandalized an AASU office in Silapathar. Subodh and Subhash were arrested from a village in Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district on March 22, 2017.

Subodh was finally granted bail by the Gauhati High Court on September 18. Subodh’s bail petitions of Nikhil Bharat Bengali Udbastu Samannay Samitee (NBBUSS), were rejected on several occasion earlier.
Subodh is also likely to be arrested under the charges of arms supply and fake currency trading and giving shelter to illegal Bangladeshis in lieu of money.

“We will never ever give shelter to Subodh again. He stayed in the house for 15 days,” said Shambhu Mandal, owner of the house.

It is to mention that Kolkata police had arrested one Anil Shah for keeping illegal arms and fake currency trading. Later, he was arrested under the Foreigners Law after identifying him as a Bangladeshi citizen. He confessed that Subodh and Subhash was also associated with him in his illegal arms and fake notes business.
Based on his confessions, Kolkata police formed a special task force against the Biswas duo.
