Guwahati : In an utterly shocking incident of superstitions among the educated, reported from Guwahati, a landlord has been accused of branding his tenant a witch.
Regarded to be a place of civilized and educated people, the cities are themselves full of superstitious people who though educated use their logic less and rather follow their ancient and degrading mindset.

The victim tenant – daughter and father – also alleged that the landlord threatened to kill the duo as well.
The incident took place near 14th APBn, Dakhingaon in Kahilipara on Saturday night. The incident came to light after an FIR was file with the police by the woman.

The woman accused that the landlord Brajen Bora, an Assam Police personnel, of attempting to kill her and her father branding her as a witch.
The victim has alleged that Bora tried to kill her with a machete. The woman originally hails from Jorhat and as been residing with her father in Guwahati for sometime now.
Superstitions in the city
It may be mentioned that President Ram Nath Kovind has given assent to the Assam Witch Hunting (Prohibition, Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2015. The Bill makes witch-hunting a cognizable, non-bailable and non-compoundable offence and is said to be strictest in the country against such a crime.
Assam Assembly had unanimously passed the Assam Witch Hunting (Prohibition, Prevention and Protection) Bill in 2015. Not only witch-hunting, crimes related to other superstitious beliefs were also brought under the ambit of the Bill.
