    The Manipur Cabinet approves 1961 as the base year for an ILP permit

    For the horizon year 2041, the cabinet approved the publication of the draft GIS-based master plan for Greater Imphal.


    Digital Desk: The Manipur cabinet on Wednesday decided to use 1961 as the initial year for assessing a person's "native" status to implement the Inner Line Permit System in the state. 


    Manipur was included in the inner line permit regime as of January 1, 2020. But the state administration had not set the cutoff date for identifying indigenous people. The Manipur State Vision Document 2047 was also discussed at the cabinet meeting presided over by the chief minister N Biren Singh.  In the next 25 years, the vision document aims to transform the state into one that is vibrant, carbon-neutral, economically, socially and environmentally sustainable. 


    Additionally, it entails improving people's lives inside and outside its borders while capitalizing on its distinctive past to become a shining Jewel of India.

    The cabinet approved the publication of the draft GIS-based master plan for Greater Imphal for the horizon year 2041, inviting opinions and objections.


    The Greater Imphal plan seeks to transform Imphal into a hub of sustainable regional growth and a gateway to Asia through sensible land use and environmental management. The cabinet also agreed to implement the MTCP Act and other pertinent Acts to control land use in Manipur's six valley districts. Moreover, l and use will require the approval of the state planning authority.


    The cabinet also decided to broaden the scope of the Manipur Startup Scheme's idea category's eligibility to apply for special covid-19 epidemic financial aid.


    Further, the cabinet also agreed that the elections for 27 urban local bodies, including the Imphal Municipal Corporation and the autonomous district councils for the hill districts, will be held this year in the last week of September.
