Assam BJP president Ranjit Das welcomed the student leader who joined the party here on Saturday at the party’s headquarters. Along with Das former Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS) leaders and two Anchalik Committee members also joined the party with less than a week for the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls.
It may be mentioned that the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and 69 other indigenous organizations of Assam on January 7th stripped naked and covered themselves in banners against Centre’s move to table the Citizenship Bill.
Backed by firebrand peasant leader Akhil Gogoi, Jadav Das was actively involved in the protests against the BJP’s move of implementing the Bill across the state of Assam.
On being asked his reaction on the naked protest, Das replied that they were “provoked emotionally” to strip naked in New Delhi.
“We were provoked to stage a naked protest and the one who provoked us used the emotional cards against the Bill. Now, they themselves have extended their helping hands towards the Congress party,” added Jadav Das.
