Two Abducted Truck Drivers Return Home Safe After Two Weeks

Digital Desk: The two drivers who were kidnapped by two Naga militant groups in Manipur’s Tamenglong district on January 16, were rescued after two weeks in a successful operation. In a coordinated operation by the Cachar police, Manipur Police, and Assam Rifles, the drivers were rescued. The drivers were abducted while on duty with loaded trucks to deliver cement for a construction company.

The kidnapping took place in Kaiphundai village, creating significant concern in the region. The authorities maintained strict surveillance along the Assam-Manipur border to locate the victims. The victims were identified as Nasir Uddin and Rizul Haque of Cachar district.

The militants are believed to belong to two Nagaland-based militant groups. They operate near Dholai and Lakhipur in the Cachar district. The militants had demanded ransom for the driver’s rescue. However, the release was achieved without any payment being made. The drivers safely reunited with their families due to the successful rescue operation.

This incident has drawn attention to the increasing activities of the militant groups along the interstate border, reminding security forces to remain on high alert to prevent further happenings. Such coordinated rescue efforts highlight the importance of inter-state cooperation in addressing militant activities and ensuring the safety of citizens.
