Nalbari : In a major breakthrough in the sensational Ugratara burglary case, the Golaghat Police have been able to trace the centuries old idol of the temple from Nalbari district, the police informed today.

Along with the recovery of the idol , the police have arrested as many as four persons. They are Saan Hussain (Nalabri), Adil Ali (Tihu), Rahul Ali (Mukalmua) and Mintu Roy (Panjabari, Guwahati). The four of them are under the custody of Golaghat police.
It may be mentioned that five months after the Ugratara burglary case, the temple was all set to get a new idol on May 2nd, 2019. The centuries-old original idol was stolen from the temple on the night of November 15th, 2019.

The Ugratara Devalaya, located in Uzan Bazar, Guwahati is dedicated to Sati Devi, the first partner of Lord Shiva. The temple holds significance for it is an important Shakti Temple which is flocked by several religious tourists and local inhabitants annually.

While speaking to the media, the Additional Superintendent of police Golaghat said that they were successful in tracing the stolen idol from Nalbari and have called the priests of Ugratara Temple to verify the idol.
