Guwahati : Youth singing sensation Nahid Afrin was appointed as the first ever ‘Youth Advocate’ by UNICEF Assam at a public ceremony here.

Nahid with be a role model for all other children who aspire to bring in positive change in this world through their humanistic activities making this world a better place and ensuring that their rights are respected. Youth advocates support initiatives of positive change that include access to quality education, basic healthcare, ending violence against children, and addressing the issues of equity and inclusion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nahid said that she is hopeful to encourage and motivate the children to achieve their dreams. She also appealed to her fans to spread the message – ‘let’s fight and show our support for the rights of children, let’s stand together against all forms of violence and exploitation on children.’
Addressing the media, Dr Yasmin Ali Haque, the representative for UNICEF India, said, “Nahid has the potential to inspire millions of young people to realise their dreams and aspirations.”
Nahid made her Bollywood singing debut in 2016 for the movie Akira starring Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.
