Kokrajhar : Some unidentified miscreants set a temporary election office of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) on fire on the night of April 10th, 2019 triggering a huge sensation amid the Phase-I of the Lok Sabha elections.
As per reports, the office was set up for UPPL’s Kokrajhar candidate UG Brahma for his election campaign located at the Tamulpur area along the banks of Motonga river. The incident came to light after the locals found flames coming out from the office. Soon after the locals intimated the party officials of Tamulpur block. The UPPL leaders Jiten Mushahary, Banikanta Basumatary have strongly condemned the incident.
It may be mentioned that former Rajya Sabha MP Brahma-led UPPL has fielded two candidates this election. Brahma is contesting from Kokrajhar against the Bodoland People’s Front candidate and Assam Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma and Congress candidate Sanda Ram Rabha.

Kokrajhar will go to polls on April 23rd, 2019. The Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat consists of Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar West, Kokrajhar East, Sidli, Bijni, Sorbhog, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Barama, Chapaguri.
