Guwahati : Cases have been filed against unscrupulous traders in Guwahati for the uneven market prices for various retail products. A team of Food Civil Service and Consumer Affairs, Kamrup metropolitan District visited the markets of Guwahati and registered cases against the traders who have been using immoral means to extract profit from customers. The case was registered by the Guwahati legal Metrology Department.
The officials monitored the retail and wholesale prices of potato and onion across the markets in Fancy Bazar, ganeshguri, Dispur Super market, Six Mile, Beltola and Maligaon shuttle gate.
During their monitoring, the retail price of the potato was marked at around rs 14-20 per kg and onion at Rs 18-22 per kg. However, the wholesale price of potato ranged from Rs 1000-Rs 1500 per quintal and onion Rs 1200-Rs 1700 per quintal.
During the visit, the traders were directed to keep the purchase memo of all the items in the shops and were also directed to display the price of potato and onion.
