Lakhimpur : Amid the high voltage polling in the five parliamentary seats of Assam, a woman voter, while standing in the queue to cast her vote, was stabbed with a scissor by a man in East Lakhimpur district on April 11th 2019. The incident took place in a polling booth in Humdiri area of the district, triggering sensation in the area.
The accused, identified as Nabir Hussain, stabbed Anjajuma Begum on her back with a sharp scissor and fled from the spot. The victim, who sustained injuries, has been rushed to the Lakhimpur Civil Hospital.
It has been reported that the woman is Nabir’s first wife and is presently being interrogated by the police after few locals managed to nab the accused. The locals then after handed him over to the police.
A total of 76,03, 458 electorates, including 38,65,334 male, 37,37,970 female and 154 of the third gender will exercise their franchise in 9,574 polling stations today in Assam.
Though this case has spread sensation in the area yet not much commotion or any kind of criminal activities has been reported as such in the first phase of polling today.
