Tihu : This is one news which all men should truly take inspiration from as well as other women at grass root level. A group of women at Pukhura Gaon in Tihu some 18 kms away from the district, have taken up the work of Village Defence Party (VDP) and have turned into night guards keeping vigilance against robbery and dacoity in the village.

Every night, a group of women come out in huge number on the streets with sticks, machete and lamps in their hands to safeguard the village people.

At a time, when women empowerment has become one of the most discussed topics of discussion, these women from Tihu are setting examples for the several others to flow with their inspiring move.

“During daytime our men go out to earn livelihood and return home in the evening. So we women have decided to guard our village from robbery, dacoity and various other kinds of illegal activities by becoming night guards ,” added a local woman.

This act of social cause as well as responsibility towards society, these group of women is surely setting a positive step for a bright and safe future ahead, especially at rural level.
