Guwahati:The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Rupjyoti Kurmi won Assam by-polls with a total of 55,559 votes. Kurmi contested Mariani’s seat, representing BJP for the by-elections.
Kurmi managed to pass over all other candidates contesting for the seat from Mariani Constinecy. He won the seat with more than 40,000 votes as compared to different constants.
Whereas Congress party candidate Luhit Konwar got 14387 votes in the Mariani constituency by-polls. On the other hand, Rajor Dal candidate -Sanjib Gogoi received 15183 votes.
Notably, BJP candidate Kurmi won the Mariani seat with a sizable margin as compared to other candidates.
It has almost become certain that the Bharatiya Janata Party will take over all other Assam constituencies.
Approximately 74.04 percent of about eight lakh electors voted in the by-elections to the five assembly constituencies in Assam on Saturday, which rested utterly well-disposed.
