BCCI announces India Squad for Asia Cup 2023
Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shreyas Iyer will be responsible for the batting front...

Digital Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced the senior men's team for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, which is being organized by Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the 17-member squad that the BCCI announced, with Hardik Pandya being the Vice-Captain.

Jasprit Bumrah, who led the Indian team in Ireland and helped them to a commanding 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series despite a protracted injury layoff, will now be a member of the squad.

The signing of Bumrah is timed to coincide with the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which will be held in India later this year.

Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shreyas Iyer will be responsible for the batting front, while Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, and Prasidh Krishna will take up the role of the bowling attack.

Additionally, Tilak Verma, a rookie who made a strong impression against the West Indies, has been selected, and KL Rahul returns to the team. The squad now includes Sanju Samson as a backup player.

This will be India's last opportunity to play in a competitive match before the ODI World Cup, giving selectors and the BCCI the ideal chance to assemble a strong team for the major competition.

It should be mentioned that six teams will compete in the 16th edition of the Asia Cup, which will take place in the months of August and September 2023.

On September 2, India will face Pakistan in the first game of the tournament's group round.

The squad include: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya (VC), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna. Traveling stand-by player: Sanju Samson.
