Digital Desk: The start of the Women's Premier League 2023 has been changed. The historic Women's Premier League will get underway with a showdown between the Gujarat Giants and the Mumbai Indians at the D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The inaugural ceremony, which featured AP Dhillon, Kriti Sanon, and Kiara Advani, has been rescheduled as well.
Fans will have the opportunity to watch the grand opening ceremony, which began at 6:25 PM IST, when the gates open at 4.00 PM IST. Bollywood actresses Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon will add sparkle and glamour to the tournament opener.
To top it all off, singer-songwriter AP Dhillon will be singing some of his musical chartbusters live on stage, which is sure to captivate the audience.
The inaugural edition of the WPL is the beginning of a new era in women's cricket in India, with some of the brightest Indian talents and stars such as Indian cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verma - captain of India's U19 World Cup-winning team, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh joining forces with global cricketing stars such as Alyssa Healy, Deandra Dottin, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Ecclestone and Sophie Devine amongst others.
The debut season of the WPL will feature 22 matches and five teams: Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriorz. The renowned tournament will be held in Mumbai from March 4 to March 26, 2023, at the Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium.
