BCCI signs deal with gaming franchise Dream11 as New Lead Sponsor

Dream11 has inked a three-year contract with BCCI...

Digital Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed fantasy sports platform Dream11 as the lead sponsor of the Indian cricket team on Saturday, replacing Ed firm Byju, whose contract expired in March of this year. The gaming platform agreed to a three-year contract with the world's richest cricket body.

Dream11 will be dressed in Team India jerseys for the West Indies trip, which begins on July 12 with the first Test at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica. The two-match Test series will also be India's first assignment in the World Test Championship (WTC) season 2023-25.

As per the media advisory, the President of the BCCI, Mr Roger Binny, commented on the collaboration, saying, "I congratulate Dream11 and welcome them on board again. From being BCCI's official sponsor to now being the lead sponsor, the BCCI-Dream11 partnership has grown from strength to strength. It is a direct testament to the trust, value, potential and growth that Indian Cricket offers. As we prepare to host the ICC World Cup later this year, enhancing fan experience is among our top priorities, and I am confident that this partnership will help us elevate the fan engagement experience."

Mr Harsh Jain, Co-Founder & CEO of Dream Sports, also commented on the partnership, "As a long-standing partner of BCCI and Team India, Dream11 is thrilled to take our partnership to the next level. At Dream11, we share our love for cricket with a billion Indian cricket fans, and it is a matter of pride and our privilege to become the lead sponsor for the National team. We look forward to continue supporting the Indian sports ecosystem."

Byju's replaced Oppo as the national team's sponsor in 2019 and signed a three-year contract till 2022. The educational app's contract was extended until 2023 before being replaced by Dream 11, one of the world's most prominent gaming fantasy platforms.
