    Best In Nearly Four Decades: India Finish 48th In Tokyo Olympics 2020, 33rd In Terms Of Overall Meda

    New Delhi: In its highest ranking in about 4 decades India finished 48th in this year’s Tokyo Olympics 2020 and 33rd if we count by overall medals won.





    The previous best was 51st in Beijing Olympics 2008 when Indian won three medals.





    India finished 57th  in London 2012 despite winning more medals then Beijing because the medal table is ranked by countries by gold, silver and bronze medals and in that order and India didn’t manage to win a gold medal in London. The ranking dropped to 67th and just 2 medals were won in Rio Olympics 2016





    Mirabi Chanu (Silver), PV Sindhu (Bronze), Lovlina Borgohain (Bronze), Ravi Kumar Dahiya (Silver), The Indian Men’s Hockey Team(Bronze), Bajrang Punia (Bronze) and Neeraj Chopra (Gold) were the medalists of Tokyo Olympics 2020 this year.
