Chennai Super Kings began their IPL 2023 campaign with a 5-wicket defeat to the defending champions Gujarat Titans. However, in their following match, they made a strong comeback and defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs. The team led by
MS Dhoni will now face the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday night.
Reportedly, it's been informed that CSK is expecting a major setback before the game because their star all-rounder Ben Stokes is allegedly said to miss 10 days owing to an injury.
As reported by the Indian Express, Stokes complained of heel discomfort after a CSK game practice session at the Wankhede Stadium on the night of the match against MI. The CSK medical team will analyse the issue before making a final decision on the player, according to the statement.
Stokes has played in both of CSK's IPL 2023 matches so far, but he has failed to impress with his performance in any of them.
CSK paid a hefty amount of Rs 16.25 crore to get Stokes in the IPL auction 2023 bidding war. Ben Stokes' bid equalled Chris Morris' and made him the joint third-most expensive player in IPL auction history.
Meanwhile, Stokes surpassed Deepak Chahar to become CSK's most expensive purchase in an
IPL auction.
