Following to the ICC schedule, four warm-up matches will be held in Guwahati's Barsapara Stadium...
Digital Desk: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has uncovered the dates for warm-up matches ahead of the World Cup 2023 on Wednesday, and Guwahati being one of the privileged cities will host four of them.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rejected Guwahati's Barsapara Stadium from hosting a World Cup 2023 match when the ICC released the calendar for the event to be held in India in June.
Cricket fans in the country's northeastern region had their expectations of seeing a World Cup match in Guwahati crushed when the game's governing body made the decision.
Guwahati, however, was chosen amid other cities that weren't holding a World Cup match to host warm-up matches in the lead-up to the mega event.
According to the ICC calendar, four warm-up matches will be held in Guwahati's Barsapara Stadium beginning September 29 and continuing till October 3.
Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in the first warm-up encounter on September 29, followed by India hosting England in the second warm-up match on September 30.
The third warm-up game, between England and Bangladesh, will take place after this on October 2. Afghanistan will play Sri Lanka in the fourth and final warm-up game in Guwahati.
It should be noted that all ten participating countries in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will play two official 50-over matches during the week coming up to the World Cup's commencement on October 5, with matches to be hosted in three different cities across India, as announced by the ICC.
