Digital Desk: Sachin Tendulkar is probably one of the greatest cricketers of all time, and his impact on Team India and Mumbai cricket is unavoidable. Now, the Mumbai Cricket Association has decided to honour the Master Blaster with a modest mark of thanks.

On the occasion of his 50th birthday on April 24, 2023, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar will be honoured with a massive life-size statue at Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium. Because the little maestro began his cricket career in his hometown of Mumbai and also played his final International match at the Wankhede in 2013, the location for the statue couldn't be more appropriate.

In an interview with a national daily, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Amol Kale stated that Sachin has agreed to the installation of a life-size statue of him at the stadium. "It would be the first statue in Wankhede Stadium, we will decide where it will be placed," he said.

Sachin was smiling as he spoke to the Indian News Agency (ANI) about what he called a great surprise for him.

On Tuesday (February 28), Sachin and his wife, Anjali Tendulkar, went to the legendary Wankhede Stadium to finalise the statue's location.

When asked about MCA's special gift to him, Sachin remarked that he had memorable experiences in Wankhede Stadium and that it is a pleasant surprise for him because he began and completed his career here. He went on to remark that his proudest moment was when they won the World Cup in 2013.

Sachin Tendulkar appeared in 200 test matches and 463 ODIs, scoring 15921 and 18426 runs, respectively. He is also the only player in Test cricket history to have scored 15,000 runs. It took Sachin 300 innings to break this record. He already has a stand named after him in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
