Digital Desk: Six-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has officially signed for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr after parting ways with boyhood club Manchester United right before the FIFA World Cup 2022. Ronaldo's next transfer destination has been announced just 10 days after the FIFA World Cup 2022 comes to an end.
Ronaldo and Manchester United parted ways just days before the Qatar mega event after the Portuguese star gave a shocking interview to Piers Morgan in which he criticized United's infrastructure and current manager. Ronaldo reacted angrily, saying he felt deceived by the club and did not respect manager Erik ten Hag.
The Saudi club announced Ronaldo's official signing with a social media post in which Ronaldo is shown holding up the number seven jersey of the team with his name.
"This is more than history in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation, and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @cristiano to your new home," Al-Nassr captioned the post.
The former Real Madrid and Juventus star is said to have signed a two-and-a-half-year contract worth millions of dollars. The contract, which ends in 2025, is anticipated to be Ronaldo's final one throughout his long playing career. Over the course of the 2.5-year contract, Al-Nassr would reportedly pay Ronaldo some 75 million pounds annually. Ronaldo's earnings with the Saudi club are projected to exceed 200 million pounds (nearly Rs 2,000 crore) when endorsement deals are included.
