IND vs AUS, Border-Gavaskar Series: Dharamsala possible venue for the third Test, final call yet to be taken

The last international game played in Dharamsala was in February of the previous year...

Digital Desk: The third Test match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia is likely to be moved away from Dharamsala. The game is set to take place from March 1 to March 5. The ultimate choice on the site, though, will be made by the BCCI in the coming days.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Dharamsala may not be ready to accommodate international cricket after a recent makeover, and the BCCI will make a final decision based on the results of a ground inspection undertaken by the board's team of specialists.

The BCCI has already identified a backup location to replace Dharamsala, but will only make a public announcement if the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium is ruled out. Pune, Visakhapatnam, Indore, and Rajkot are among the nominated locations.

The last international game played in Dharamsala was a T20I between India and Sri Lanka in February of the previous year. It is reported that the outfield is still not prepared, with bare places where the grass cover is yet to take shape.

Ticket sales for the last two Test matches are yet to begin.
