Digital Desk: Alen Deory, one of the best football players of Assam has recently been forced down to make a plea on a crowd fundraising platform as he struggles with several issues that are threatening his life and career.

He is still only 27-year-old, but the days of bursting into the scene as a fresh-faced forward in the inaugural season of the Indian Super League (ISL) in 2014 seem to be over.

When his ISL contract with Mumbai City FC expired in 2020, he realized that his inability to make the India team was soon going to be the least of his issues. Alen realized that everything in his life had changed.

Despite showing early promise, Alen struggled to prove himself as a regular in the ISL, and his lone appearance for India was at the 2018 Intercontinental Cup. But his dreams of coming back stronger were disrupted by an untimely injury, exacerbated by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Alen Deory on a fund raising playform sgared his concerns, as he went on to say, " I am Alen, a footballer from Guwahati, Assam. From Childhood, All I dreamt of representing India in Football and wear that Blue jersey. In pursuit of the dream I played for various I league and ISL clubs like Shillong Lajongs, North East United FC and Mumbai City FC. Everything was going like a dream and I represented India in every age group, be it U13, U16 , U19 or U23."

He further stated, "However just before I actualised my dream of playing for the Senior National team, multiple obstacles derailed my journey. I suffered multiple injuries which forced me out of football. Around the same time I had to undergo tremendous mental pressure as my daughter had severe health issues and had to be hospitalized. These events drenched me financially forcing me to put a pause to my footballing career. But I still haven't given up my dream of representing India."

He concluded stating, "The biggest challenge to that dream now is that I got severely injured on my left knee. I have a PCL,ACL,and Ligament tear on my left knee ,which needs a surgery as soon as possible. Without the surgery I can not even walk properly, let alone playing professional football. I have attached all the medical documents here. I request everyone who is reading this post to help me in this fight. I hope everyone supports me in my journey to represent India."

Alen Deory, along with Durga Bodo and Halicharan Narzary, stood out as shining stars from Assam as the ISL era in Indian football got underway in 2014. An iconic duo for North East United FC was Alen and Durga.
