Digital Desk: Heath Streak, the former captain of the Zimbabwe cricket team, passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 49.
As per reports, Heath spent a long time battling liver cancer. His wife, Nadine Streak, confirmed the news of his passing through a heartfelt Facebook post.
The post she posted on her social media account reads, "In the early hours of this morning, Sunday the 3rd of September 2023, the greatest love of my life and the father of my beautiful children, was carried to be with the Angels from his home where he wished to spend his last days surrounded by his family and closest loved ones. He was covered in love and peace and did not walk off the Park alone. Our souls are joined for eternity Streaky. Till I hold you again.”
Between 1993 and 2005, Heath represented Zimbabwe in 189 one-day internationals and 65 tests in his cricket career. He finished with 216 Test wickets and 239 ODI wickets. Between 2000 to 2004, he served as a captain of the team
However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) banned him from all cricket-related activities for eight years in 2021 due to his involvement in corrupt practices.
