Digital Desk: India is set to play against Afghanistan in a FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup 2027 Joint Qualifiers Round 2 match at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on March 26. The Assam Football Association (AFA) has urged the public to show their support for the Blue Tigers by turning out in large numbers.

Sangrang Brahma, the secretary of the AFA, expressed excitement for the game and the hope that the stadium will be filled with blue supporters.

Addressing a press conference, Brahma stated, “We are all excited for the match. This is an important qualifying match for India. I’m sure the match will be a highly competitive one.”

He added, “So, I would like to urge the people of Guwahati, Assam, and the Northeast to join us in supporting the Blue Tigers. Let’s show the world our love for the beautiful game.”

The match's tickets will be distributed online via BookMyShow. The price of the ticket is between Rs. 250 to Rs. 4000. There will be about 22,000 tickets on sale. The corporate boxes are set for Rs. 4000. The tickets were made available from 3 p.m. on Sunday. The JioCinema live stream for the match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

The teams from Afghanistan and India will arrive on March 23 in the morning and evening, respectively. According to Brahma, the teams would train on the practice field at the Sarusojai Sports Complex as well as the SAI ground in Paltan Bazar.

Brahma also praised Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, for his support of the association.

Brahma further added, “I must say it’s the support of our chief minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, for which we are going to organize this match. To conduct a match of such volume is not easy, but the chief minister’s cooperation has helped us to make it happen.”
