Digital Desk: Hockey India announced a 20-member national women's team for a three-match series in Australia starting from May 18 in Adelaide. They will also play two matches against Australia's 'A' team. The tour is part of the team's preparations for the crucial Hangzhou Asian Games. The Indian team will be led by Savita, who has recently been awarded the Balbir Singh Sr Hockey India Player of the Year (2022) Award. As the team's vice-captain, Deep Grace Ekka will assist her.

Bichu Devi Kharibam is the team's second goalkeeper, with Deep Grace Ekka, Nikki Pradhan, Ishika Chaudhary, Udita, and Gurjit Kaur as defenders.

Nisha, Navjot Kaur, Monika, Salima Tete, Neha, Navneet Kaur, Sonika, Jyoti, and Baljeet Kaur are among the midfielders.

The seasoned striker Vandana Katariya, who has more than 250 international caps, will lead India's forward line. She will be joined by Lalremsiami, Sangita Kumari, and Sharmila Devi.

Chief coach Janneke Scopman stated, "We are pleased to have international exposure again after two intense training blocks. Australia is a formidable opponent who enjoys playing fast-paced offensive hockey."

"It will be a great test for us, and we will attempt to match their fast pace on offence while retaining our defensive ground," he added.

India will face Australia on May 18, 20, and 21, and Australia 'A' on May 25 and 27. Adelaide's Mate Stadium is going to host all five games.
