Digital Desk: Mohammed Shami provided India with an excellent start in their Super 4 match against Bangladesh, dismissing Litton Das in just the third over. This encounter, currently underway in Colombo, serves as the final Super 4 game before the eagerly anticipated final on Sunday. India, having won the toss, decided to field first.
India's path to the final has been impressive, with victories over arch-rivals Pakistan and hosts Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Tigers have been eliminated from the tournament after suffering losses to both of those teams.
The key moment of the match arrived early as Mohammed Shami, who replaced Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI, struck to dismiss Litton Das. The experienced opener for Bangladesh was sent packing by an indipper from Shami, which breached Das's defenses.
India made a substantial five changes to their playing XI for this match. Notable omissions included Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik Pandya. In their place, Suryakumar Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Shami, and debutant Tilak Varma were given the opportunity to shine.
Tilak Varma, making his ODI debut for India, was handed his cap by captain Rohit Sharma before the match. This moment marked a significant milestone in the young cricketer's career.

At the toss, Rohit Sharma explained India's decision to field first, saying, "We are gonna field first. It is something we haven’t done in the tournament, we haven’t done it under lights so it gives us an opportunity to bat under lights. The wicket honestly has got everything for everyone. Pacers who bend their back in the daytime have also got movement, and there has been assistance for the spinners. We got to be brave and play our natural game."
