    India, who have won every game in the competition thus far, will try to keep up their winning ways.


    Digital Desk: India will face Australia eight months after the heart-breaking loss in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. However, this time in a high-octane clash of the T20 World Cup 2024. India will have revenge in their minds as they face Australia on June 24, Monday at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium at St Lucia. A lot of things will be at stake in a must-win clash as both teams eye to seal the semi-final berth. Afghanistan's unbeaten run in the T20 World Cup 2024 came to an end as they were stunned by Afghanistan.


    The Rashid Khan-led side scripted history as they registered their very first win against Australia. Had Australia won the match against Afghanistan, India would have reached the semi-final of the tournament. However, Australia's loss has opened the gates for all four teams of Group 1 to make it to the knockout stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. India will have a chance to knock Australia out of the T20 World Cup 2024 as the two sides face each other.


    Can India knock Australia out?


    Australia will get knocked out of the tournament if India beats them and Afghanistan defeat Bangladesh. If Australia loses against India and the Super 8s match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh gets washed out, then also the Rashid Khan-led team will reach the semi-final as they will accumulate 3 points from 4 matches. If India wins against Australia, they will accumulate 6 points and finish off as table-toppers of Group 2. If Australia manages to beat India, then also their qualification into the Super 8s will not be confirmed as their fate will be in the hands of the Afghanistan vs Bangladesh game.


    What happens if Australia wins?


    If Afghanistan is defeated by Bangladesh, Australia will advance.  If Afghanistan beats Bangladesh, then it will all come down to the net run rate the outcome will primarily depend on the net run rate. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals by the tournament rules.
