Digital Desk: Star India middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav admitted that it was his mistake that led to Washington Sundar's run-out during the 2nd T20I against New Zealand in Lucknow.
Suryakumar Yadav was named Player of the Match after making an unbeaten 26 runs off 31 balls on a tricky wicket.
Suryakumar and Hardik Pandya scored 31 runs for the fifth wicket to lead India to secure a crucial victory on the penultimate ball of the match.
Suryakumar added 20 runs (23 balls) with Washington Sundar before forming a partnership with Hardik. Sundar was batting well before he was run out following a terrible mix-up with Suryakumar.
Suryakumar stated during the post-match ceremony that he wanted a single, which was impossible.
"It was my mistake, it was definitely not a run, I didn’t see where the ball was going," Suryakumar said.
Suryakumar tried to steal a single from Glenn Phillips' delivery, but he only managed to glove the ball. Sundar had no interest in finishing the run, but Suryakumar ran down the field and Sundar eventually sacrificed his wicket.
Speaking of his inning, Suryakumar said, "A different version of SKY today. Adapting to the situation was very important when I went into bat. After losing Washy, it was important for someone to take the game till the end."
The third T20I will be played on February 1 in Ahmedabad.
