Lasith Malinga has been appointed as the Rajasthan Royals' Fast Bowling Coach

Moreover, Lasith Malinga will work with his former Sri Lankan teammate, Kumar Sangakkara, who is the franchise's director of cricket operations.

Digital Desk: Former Sri Lankan fast bowler, Lasith Malinga, has been appointed as the fast bowling coach of the Rajasthan Royals for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise made the official announcement through a social media post on Friday (March 11).

Notably, Malinga was one of the best pacers in T20 cricket history, and he was a nightmare for bowlers throughout his playing days.

He was also an important part of the Mumbai Indians, who won the IPL five times. In fact, his 170 wickets in 122 matches still remain the highest for any bowler in the elite T20 league's history. Hence, his addition to the Rajasthan Royals' support system would be a huge boost for the team's first-season success.

Welcoming Malinga to the team, the Rajasthan Royals wrote, "* Kisses the ball* Lasith Malinga. IPL. Pink,". RR also shared a creative graphic confirming Malinga's appointment.

Moreover, Malinga will work with his former Sri Lankan teammate, Kumar Sangakkara, who is the franchise's director of cricket operations.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals have assembled a strong squad in the IPL 2022 mega auction and are optimistic about performing well in the same season. In the top order, skipper Sanju Samson will be joined by Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Devdutt Padikkal.

Dashers such as Shimron Hetmyer and Rassie van der Dussen will be in charge of the finishers. Maling will develop the likes of Trent Boult, Navdeep Saini, and Prasidh Krishna as fast bowlers. Overall, the side appears to be fairly balanced on paper and is expected to go a long way. Notably, the IPL 2022 season begins on March 26.

For the IPL 2022, the Rajasthan Royals team includes players like Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Shimron Hetmyer, Devdutt Padikkal, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Riyan Parag, KC Cariappa, Navdeep Saini, Obed McCoy, Anunay Singh, Kuldeep Sen, Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurel, Tejas Baroka, Kuldip Yadav, Shubham Garhwal, James Neesham, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rassie van der Dussen, Daryl Mitchell.
