MS Dhoni to play his last match for Chennai Super Kings, Thala to play his farewell game on this date; Check here
The 16th season of IPL to kick off on March 31st, with the reigning champions Gujarat Titans taking against 4 times champion CSK...

Digital Desk: A heartthrob of millions of fans, an idol to budding cricketers MS Dhoni whom we call Thala Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is expected to retire from the Indian Premier League after the 2023 season, bringing an end to a spectacular career.

Dhoni will play his final game for the Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk Stadium on May 14 against the Kolkata Knight Riders. If the Super Kings do not make the playoffs, this will be their final game of the season.

A CSK official confirmed the news to InsideSport, saying that this will be MS Dhoni's farewell season, and the entire franchise would be filled with emotion when the World Cup-winning skipper hangs up his boots.

"Indeed, this will be MS's final season as a player. So far, that is all we know. Yet, of course, it's his choice. He has not officially informed management of his intention to retire. The return of the IPL to Chennai is a wonderful occasion for all CSK fans. Nonetheless, if Dhoni plays his final season, it will be a sad time," a CSK official stated.

The four-time Indian Premier League champions will open their 2023 season in Ahmedabad against the defending champions Gujarat Titans. The Yellow Army enters this season with a bitter aftertaste after a disastrous 2022 campaign in which they finished second-last on the table. MS Dhoni's team only won four games out of fourteen, but because of a stronger net run rate, they avoided the dreadful tenth-place finish.

Dhoni declared his intention to return to the Chennai Super Kings for one more year when speaking with Ian Bishop prior to the team's final match of the Indian Premier League 2022 against the Rajasthan Royals.
He expressed his desire to put on the yellow jersey once more and lead the team to victory.

"Certainly, I believe. It's for a straightforward reason. It would be unjust to not play in Chennai and express gratitude. Mumbai is a location where I have a lot of love and affection, both as a team and as an individual. But you know it's not going to be nice to the CSK fans," Dhoni stated.
