Mohammed Shami names the 'best' India captain he has played under; it's not Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma
In response to a question concerning whose captain he has enjoyed the greatest success with, Shami respectfully pointed out that while opinions may differ, the title must go to the most productive.

Digital Desk: Mohammed Shami has created an indelible mark on the game and solidified his place in Indian bowling history. Over the course of a career spanning more than 10 years, Shami has been the undisputed leader of India's bowling attack in all three forms of the game in addition to representing various teams in the fiercely competitive Indian Premier League (IPL).

Over the course of his remarkable career, Shami has had the honor of playing under some of the most outstanding captains to have ever guided the Indian cricket team. Under the wise leadership of MS Dhoni, Shami made his debut and, with Virat Kohli at the helm, soon established himself as one of the best bowlers in the world. But Shami really touched new heights of performance in the last several years, thanks to the inspirational guidance of Rohit Sharma. Notably, Shami also got to play for the Gujarat Titans (GT), who won the IPL in 2022 and advanced to the final in 2023, under Hardik Pandya's captaincy.

In response to a question concerning whose captain he has enjoyed the greatest success with, Shami respectfully pointed out that while opinions may differ, the title must go to the most productive.

"You know, it varies from person to person. Though you will name the most successful, these things begin with comparisons. Therefore, I think it's MS Dhoni because he has had greater achievement than anyone else," Shami stated on News18 India.

Shami also conveyed his respect for Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma and standout batsman Virat Kohli. Shami acknowledged Virat Kohli's incredible record-breaking run and praised him as the epitome of batting excellence. Shami's compliments didn't stop there, either. The Indian captain's unparalleled presence at the crease was demonstrated when he went on to call Rohit the most formidable batter in the world.

"The world's greatest batsman is Virat Kohli. Virat recently shattered numerous records. In my opinion, Rohit Sharma is the world's most dangerous batter, and Virat Kohli is the greatest," Shami continued.

Because of an unfortunate ankle injury, Shami hasn't been on the pitch since the 2023 World Cup final over Australia. With an incredible total of 24 wickets in just seven matches, Shami broke the previous mark during the competition with an outstanding performance.

Sadly, the 33-year-old missed the first two tests against England as well as the tour of South Africa. There is still no word on whether or not to include him in the squad for the final three Test matches.
