Mohammed Shami used to demand dowry and has extramarital affairs: Estranged wife moves Supreme Court

Mohammed Shami told India Today that if Hasin Jahan's charges were proven true in court, he was willing to apologize.

Digital Desk: The estranged wife of India cricketer Mohammed Shami has
filed a Special Leave Petition with the Supreme Court, alleging that a criminal
case against the fast bowler has been "erroneously stayed for the past 4
years, without any just circumstances," and that the Indian cricketer has
continued to have extra-marital affairs with prostitutes even while on tours
with the senior national cricket team.

Hasin Jahan originally raised the claims of domestic abuse and infidelity
against Mohammed Shami in a police complaint in Jadavpur in 2018. The
cricketer's estranged wife has been doggedly pushing the case against Shami,
despite the fast bowler's adamant denial of all charges.

Shami and his elder brother Hasib Ahmed were questioned by the Kolkata
Police's women's complaints cell in 2018, and an arrest warrant was issued by
the Alipore Court. The arrest warrant, however, was later suspended. The Indian
    cricket board's (BCCI)
Anti-Corruption Unit cleared Shami after Hasin Jahan
claimed Shami was implicated in match-fixing.

According to Hasin Jahan's recent Supreme Court petition, a sessions
court in Kolkata issued an order to delay action against Shami despite the fact
that the cricketer "did not even pay for the stay of criminal trial and
his sole grievance was only against the issuance of arrest warrants."

Hasin Jahan claims in her plea that Shami used to demand dowry. Hasin
Jahan, an IPL moden and cheerleader, has made a bombshell allegation that
Mohammed Shami has continued to have extramarital affairs even while touring
with the senior national cricket team.

"Mr. Shami used to demand dowry from her, and he has been
continuously involved in illicit extra-marital sexual affairs with prostitutes,
particularly during his BCCI tours, in hotel rooms provided by the BCCI, even
to the present day." Mrs. Hasin Jahan claims in the Petition that Mr.
Shami utilised his second mobile phone- HTC company, mobile number.
+447864905556, for managing all of his prostitute-related issues, and that the
phone was seized by the Lal Bazaar Police, Kolkata, in connection with the
current crime. "However, according to the allegations in the Petition, Mr.
Shami continues to engage in sexual activities with prostitutes," the
    petition stated.

Mohammed Shami told India Today that if Hasin Jahan's charges were proven
true in court, he was willing to apologise.

Previously, in January 2023, a Kolkata court ordered Shami to pay Rs
50,000 in monthly alimony to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan.

Jahan was dissatisfied with the alimony sum that Shami was ordered to
pay, and she requested Rs 10 lakh per month from the Indian pacer. In 2018,
Jahan filed a legal petition seeking Rs 10 lakh in monthly alimony, which
comprised Rs 7 lakh for personal costs and Rs 3 lakh for their daughter's
    upkeep.
