Heavy rain pelted Guwahati after India skipper Rohit Sharma elected to bat first in humid conditions, causing groundstaff to cover the pitch quickly.

After the coin toss at the appointed hour, the game's start was delayed due to rain. Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, elected to bat first after winning the toss. But before the first ball could be bowled, it started to rain.
