Digital Desk: Riyan Parag, an all-rounder for East Zone and an Assam cricketer, scored a century against North Zone on Friday (July 28) at the CAP Ground 3 in Puducherry during a Deodhar Trophy Round 3 match.

Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav, and Sandeep Sharma shared the spoils as East Zone lost five wickets for just 57 runs in 16 overs after choosing to bat first. Riyan, who came out to bat at number six, significantly changed the course of the game.

The batter from Assam scored his half-century off 38 balls before going on to reach his fourth List-A hundred off 84 balls.

In the history of the match, Riyan's scorching innings saw him break Yusuf Pathan's previous record of nine sixes for West Zone against North Zone in 2010.

In the 47th over, with East Zone in an excellent position and their team score at 293 runs, Riyan was finally dismissed. In their 50 overs, East Zone was able to post 337/8 on the scoreboard.

Riyan hit 131 runs in just 102 balls (5 fours, 11 sixes) after compiling a 235-run stand with Kushagra (98), the longest List-A stand for the sixth wicket by an Indian pair in domestic cricket.

Riyan became the East Zone's top bowler, not just with the bat, as he took four wickets while giving up 57 runs in 10 overs.

While attempting to reach 338 runs, the North Zone side lost all 10 of its wickets for 249 runs in just 46 overs.
