Digital Desk: In a significant development in the world of women's cricket, Indian batters Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur have made notable strides in the latest update of the Women's Player Rankings. The update, released on Tuesday, saw Mandhana ascending to the fourth position with an impressive 708 points, while the Indian team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, improved her ranking to sixth place with 694 points.

England's Nat Sciver-Brunt, renowned for her spectacular performances, has dominated the latest rankings as the leading ODI batter. Sciver-Brunt's remarkable century during the ICC Women's Championship ODI against Sri Lanka left a lasting mark, reaching the three-figure mark in just 66 balls, setting a new record for England women's players. Her dazzling knock culminated with 120 runs from a mere 74 balls, inclusive of 18 fours and a six.

The awe-inspiring performance not only earned her accolades but also propelled her to a staggering 807-point rating in the ODI batting rankings, making her the third-highest-rated English women's player in this category's history. Only Claire Taylor (814) and Sarah Taylor (812), who achieved their respective ratings in July 2009, rank higher than the 31-year-old sensation.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Hasini Perera has also shown remarkable improvement, leaping up 26 spots to secure the 57th position with 325 points after an impressive display in three innings during the series.

The latest rankings saw minimal movement in the top ten on the bowling side, with Ayabonga Khaka surging to the seventh position, leapfrogging over Kate Cross. However, several players outside the top ten made substantial advancements.

England's Charlie Dean, following her sensational 5/31 performance in the third ODI against Sri Lanka, achieved a career-best 12th position with 571 points. Pakistan's Nida Dar climbed two spots to 19th, while Nashra Sandhu moved up one spot to the 15th position. Sadia Iqbal, another Pakistani cricketer, made an impressive jump, ascending 13 spots into the top 50 after consistent performances against South Africa, where she secured hauls of 2-32 and 2-26.

England's Sarah Glenn, who stepped up admirably in the absence of the injured Sophie Ecclestone, claimed five wickets in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, propelling her 12 places up to the 52nd position with 328 points.

Notably, while Sciver-Brunt's batting prowess shone brightly, she relinquished her top spot in the ODI all-rounder rankings, slipping down to the third position. Ash Gardner now occupies the top spot with 389 points, followed by Hayley Matthews with 382 points.

Chamari Athapaththu, who delivered a strong performance in England, moved closer to breaking into the top ten, reflecting the depth of talent in the women's cricketing world. Additionally, players like Charlie Dean, Salma Khatun, and Nadine de Klerk made significant strides in the rankings, setting the stage for exciting competition in the near future.

The latest update in the Women's Player Rankings showcases the ever-evolving nature of women's cricket, with players from various nations vying for top honors and making their mark on the global stage. With their exceptional performances, Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Nat Sciver-Brunt have become the faces of this dynamic and competitive sport.
