    Digital Desk: In preparation for the upcoming special session of Parliament, Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, called a meeting of the party's Parliamentary Strategy group on Tuesday.

    Sonia Gandhi was discharged from the hospital on Monday as on Sunday, she was admitted to the Sir Gangaram Hospital in Delhi with symptoms of mild fever on Sunday.

    According to the report, there would be a discussion about the party's strategy for dealing with topics and issues that would probably be raised during the Parliamentary Session.

    Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also called a meeting of INDIA alliance MPs to discuss the special parliamentary session.

    Pralhad Joshi, minister of Union parliamentary affairs, announced the five-day special session of parliament from September 18–22 on Thursday. 

    However, the special session's schedule has not yet been revealed.

    Joshi posted the details on the social media platform X and included a photo of the new and old parliament buildings, which were inaugurated on May 28 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

    An eight-member committee was formed by the Center on Saturday to examine and make recommendations for holding simultaneous elections across the nation.

    Apart from former President Kovind, the members of the committee include, Union Home Minister Amit Shah; Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury; former Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad; former Finance Commission chairman NK Singh, former Lok Sabha secretary general Subhash C Kashyap, senior advocate Harish Salve and former chief vigilance commissioner Sanjay Kothari.

    The significant Parliament building was the venue for the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which ended last month.

    The announcement of the Special Session came as a surprise in political circles with the parties gearing up for assembly polls in 5 states.

    The winter session of Parliament usually begins in the last week of November.
