Sprinter Hima Das suspended by NADA for three whereabout failures in 12 months
Depending on the severity of Das's misconduct, the maximum suspension—which can be reduced to one year—can be imposed on her.

Digital Desk: The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has temporarily suspended Indian sprinter Hima Das for three failures to report whereabouts over 12 months. A representative from India verified the news. Depending on the severity of Das's misconduct, the maximum suspension—which can be lowered to one year—can be imposed on her.

Under the condition of anonymity, the Indian official told the PTI, "Yes, she has committed three whereabouts failures in one year and so she has been provisionally suspended by the NADA." A combination of three whereabouts failures, involving a filing failure and a missed test or both, within a 12-month period will be considered a breach of the World Athletics Anti-Doping (WADA) guidelines, according to those rules.

Das, who withdrawn from the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, earlier this year because of an injury, missed the Inter-State Athletics Championships, which served as the final Asian Games selection trials because of a hamstring pull. At the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Das took silver in the 400-meter individual event. The sprinter also competed in Jakarta's women's and mixed 4x400-meter relay teams, which won gold and silver.

She had to miss the Federation Cup in May in Ranchi due to an injury that occurred prior to the Indian Grand Prix IV in Bangalore in April.

It is unfortunate that Hima got hurt the day before the fourth Indian Grand Prix in Bangalore. She has back issues in addition to pulling a hamstring, Indian athletics chief coach Radhakrishnan Nair had previously informed PTI.
