    Tokyo Paralympics winner Pramod Bhagat nominated for Para-Badminton Player of Year

    New Delhi: On a generous note, Tokyo Paralympics champion Pramod Bhagat was selected among six shuttlers for the Male Para-Badminton Player of the Year on Thrusday. The sport's world organisation made the selection decisions.





    In September, powerful world titleholder Bhagat, who had won a celebrated gold medal in the men's singles SL3 class in the Tokyo Olympics, was similarly identified along with Manoj Sarkar for the recently launched Para-Badminton Pair of the Year, with five additional candidates.





    Manoj Sarkar had got a bronze medal in the men's singles SL3 class in the Tokyo Olympics. The 33-year-old Bhagat got polio when he was four years old.

    Bhagat chose up the sport following watching his next-door neighbour game. Initially, he played against able-bodied athletes before going into ambitious para-badminton in 2006.





    Bhagat is additionally the present world number 1 and Asian winner in SL3. In the SL3 class, athletes with lower limb impairment face each other.





    The winners will be announced during the Bali Leg of the HSBC BWF World Tour in Indonesia in November-December. 





    The Badminton World Federation (BWF) stated that two new grant classes were added, Pair of the Year and Para-Badminton Pair.





    "The BWF Awards Commission additionally wanted to make specific notice of the amazing journey of Guatemala's Kevin Cordon across four Olympic Games and his remarkable achievements at Tokyo 2020, which guided him to the semifinals," the BWF stated.
