Digital Desk: Commonwealth and Asian Games champion Vinesh Phogat has once again made India proud by clinching an Olympic quota in the women's 50kg category. Her remarkable journey to securing this quota was highlighted by a commanding victory over Kazakhstan’s Laura Ganikyzy in the semifinals of the Asian Olympic qualifiers.

In a display of technical superiority, Phogat defeated her opponent with a resounding score of 10-0 in just 4:18 minutes. Her dominance continued as she advanced to the finals where she will face Aktenge Keunimjaeva of Uzbekistan.

Phogat's path to the Olympic quota was not without its challenges. After being out of action for nearly two years due to protesting against former WFI president Brij Bhushan Saran Singh, she returned to the wrestling arena with determination and resilience. Despite facing setbacks such as a knee injury and illness, Phogat remained steadfast in her pursuit of Olympic glory.

Her versatility was evident as she competed in the 50kg category, a departure from her usual preference of 53kg. Despite this, Phogat showcased her exceptional skill and adaptability, securing victories in both the semifinals and quarter-finals with ease.

Phogat's journey to the Olympics was marked by triumph over adversity. From overcoming injury and illness to facing formidable opponents on the mat, she demonstrated unwavering resolve and determination. Her achievement not only secures an Olympic quota for India but also serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across the country.

As Vinesh Phogat prepares to represent India on the world stage once again, her remarkable performance at the Asian Olympic qualifiers stands as a testament to her indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to excellence in wrestling.
