After their triumphant T20 World Cup campaign, Kohli disclosed that he insisted Rohit briefly hold the prestigious trophy. Both stalwarts of Indian cricket bid farewell to T20 Internationals fittingly, concluding their journey with a victorious title win over South Africa.

    Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma marked their first victory as part of a winning Indian team at the T20 World Cup finals against South Africa, clinching a 7-run triumph at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, West Indies. 



    In a heartfelt tribute to their achievement, Kohli and Rohit posed together, cradling the T20 World Cup trophy against the backdrop of the Indian flag. Reflecting on the moment, Kohli explained his decision to allow Rohit to hold the trophy, enabling younger teammates to relish the victory.

    "It was a very special moment for him [Rohit] too. His family was there, and Samaira [Rohit's daughter] was on his shoulders. But during the victory lap, he was behind the whole time. I told him, 'You also hold the trophy for a while, for two minutes. Let's take a picture together because this journey has been very long,'" Virat Kohli expressed in a video shared by Star Sports.

    The 35-year-old Kohli also shared insights into their shared journey in Indian cricket with Rohit. He emphasized their consistent efforts in propelling Indian cricket forward, despite alternating roles in captaincy. "For so many years, both of us have strived to ensure this for India. Whether as captain or leader, our sole focus has always been Indian cricket. That picture was a tribute to Indian cricket," Kohli added.
