After India's ODI squad lost the series against Bangladesh, former cricketer Virender Sehwag jabs at Rohit Sharma's team...
Digital Desk: Former Indian player Virender Sehwag slammed Rohit Sharma's squad after they lost an ODI series away from home to Bangladesh. Rohit Sharma is only the second Indian captain to lose an ODI series after MS Dhoni, who was on the receiving end of this adverse statistic in 2015.
"Cryptos se bhi tez gir rahi hai apni performance yaar. Need to shake up - wake up," tweeted Sehwag.
The Indian team was outnumbered after their batting order failed in both ODIs against Liton Das' Bangladesh Team. In the first encounter, India was bowled out for 186 runs, but a spectacular performance by the Indian bowling attack kept them in the game. Without Mehidy Hasan's outstanding half-century, India would have easily won the opening ODI.
The Indian bowling attack maintained their form from the previous match in the second encounter. The squad dismissed six Bangladesh batters in the first 20 overs, but Mehidy Hasan Miraz held firm with former skipper Mahmudullah to get Bangladesh out of difficulty.
Mehidy hit a century with the penultimate ball of the first innings in the second ODI, giving him a total of 271 runs. The Indian batting order once again failed to rise to the occasion, and Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel came to the rescue. Today, India's top order was without Rohit Sharma, who was rushed to the hospital after hurting his left thumb.
Sharma batted at number 9 in the Indian batting order and scored 51* off 28 balls. India came dangerously close to reaching the objective but fell short by 5 runs.
Rahul Dravid praised the Indian captain's efforts and announced that he will return to Mumbai for more checks.
