    Assam Athletes Shine on the Final Day of the 36th National Games
    Pwilao Basumatary, a pugilist from Himachal Pradesh, knocked out Dimple Upadhyay to advance to the semi-finals.

    Digital Desk:  Olympic medallist and ace boxer from Assam Lovlina Borgohain assured the state of Assam on Sunday that she will win a medal after reaching the semifinals of the 36th National Games being held in Gujarat. 

    Lovlina won convincingly by a score of 5-0 in her quarterfinal match against Kerala's K A Indraja. She participated in the 70-75 kilogramme weight group. 

    With her triumph, Assam is guaranteed a further medal at the National Games. 

    To get to the semifinals, wrestler Pwilao Basumatary knocked out Dimple Upadhyay of Himachal Pradesh. 

    On a day when boxers from the state excelled, Shiva Thapa also advanced to the semifinals of the national-level competition.

    At the National Games, the Assam Wushu Team won three medals. 

    Sanma Brahma earned the silver medal in the Taijiquan and Taijijan men's overall competition, Rongila Daimary won the silver in the Nanquan and Nandao women's overall competition, and Sanjib Kumar Singh took home the bronze in the Nanquan and Nangun men's overall competition.
